SES Home & School News

Our next Home and School meeting is Feb 12 at 6:00PM. If you’d like to reach our home and school committee, feel free to email them at: seshomeandschool2023@gmail.com

Thank you to our home and school committee for taking our sock donations to the Charlottetown outreach center/shelter and spearheading our Holiday Sock Hop. A HUGE thank you to parents for all your sock donations. Our Holiday Sock Hop and Sock donation drive was very successful; our students really enjoyed the experience! It was a great way to kick off the holidays!

School News

1 Hour Delay

Please note that the school board will often announce a delay in the opening of schools when there are challenging weather conditions. A 1-hour delay to the start of classes applies to all aspects of the school day. All bus pick-up times move ahead 1 hour, school drop-off times move ahead 1 hour (9:00), and the beginning of classes move ahead 1 hour (9:30). We recognize that families who are new to the community may not be aware of this process. We thank you for your patience during the 1-hour delay on Jan 6th! These types of delays are always broadcast on local radio stations. The same applies for full-day closures. Stratford Elementary is a member of the Charlottetown family of schools; listeners would hear: “There is a 1-hour delay to the start of classes in the Charlottetown family of schools”.

Enrollment

Speaking of being new to the community, we would like to welcome our new students who recently arrived and to all those who arrived after the start of the school year. Our enrolment is now at 710 students.

Cold Weather Clothing

Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Please note that all students go outside even when it is very cold and when it is snowing.

One Lunch Volunteer Needed

We are searching for one volunteer to help with our lunch program on Wednesdays. This volunteer would need to be at the school from 11:00 to 12:15 each Wednesday going forward. If interested, please contact Michelle Trowsdale  mctrowsdale@edu.pe.ca. The school will provide a cover letter that can be submitted to the RCMP so that a Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Record Check can be completed.
