SCHOOL NEWS

Long Weekend

We’d like to wish everyone an enjoyable long weekend. We hope you find time to relax with friends and family. As a reminder, please note that there is no school on Friday (Good Friday) and on Monday (Easter Monday).

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair begins on Monday, May 5 and ends on the morning of Friday, May 9. It will be held in our school library for our staff and students. Each class will have the opportunity to visit the fair. Teachers may notify families when their child is to visit the Book Fair. Thanks to everyone for their support with this huge fundraiser for our school library.

School Goals update

As part of our school goals cycle, staff at Stratford Elementary have taken on the goal of enhancing classroom environments to be more supportive and culturally responsive, with a primary focus on building relationships and community. In particular, our actions this year focus on ensuring that students' diverse identities are reflected in the classroom (materials), as well as incorporating diverse perspectives, authors, historical figures, posters, artwork, and materials that showcase different cultures, backgrounds, and traditions and support a sense of belonging, inclusivity, and emotional well-being. With the help of our home and school, two diversity resource kits have been purchased for each grade level (one in English and one in French). These resources are available for teachers and students.

Canada Day in May

O’Canada! Mark your calendars for Canada Day in May at Stratford Elementary, Thursday May 1st. That day, students and staff will be celebrating national pride and belonging, while participating in school-wide Canadian trivia, classroom activities, and art. Students are encouraged to dress in their Canada clothes or in Canadian colors (red and white).
