HOME AND SCHOOL NEWS

Home and School Meeting

This is a reminder that the PEI Home and School Federation AGM will be held on Saturday, April 12 from 8:45 am to 1:30 pm at the Rodd Charlottetown. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend. You can register by clicking on this link - https://peihsf.ca/agm/

One item on the agenda for the AGM is new resolutions. Local H&S Associations have put forth 4 resolutions which will be voted on at the AGM. It is the H&S representatives who vote, but we would LOVE to have your input! Your opportunity to vote is at your own local H&S meeting. Our next meeting for Stratford Elementary Home and School will be on April 2 at 6 pm at the school. You must attend the meeting in order to be able to vote. Once we've collected the votes, our H&S representative take the majority vote and cast that vote at the AGM.

Please review the proposed resolutions at: Resolutions - PEI Home and School Federation. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at seshomeandschool2023@gmail.com or via the Facebook group.

And again, the next home and school meeting is April 2 at 6:00PM

SCHOOL NEWS

Missing School & Extra Work

While missing days from school for family trips or for regular/ongoing events can be enriching to some students, teachers are not responsible for providing homework / extra work to families during these times. It is a parental responsibility to provide educational opportunities during extended, multiple, or regular absences.

Easter Seals Fundraisers

We will be hosting three fundraising events to support the Easter Seals Ambassador Tour

Easter Seals PEI is committed to fully enhancing the quality of life, self-esteem and self-determination of Islanders with disabilities. It responds to the needs and aspirations of children, youth, and adults with disabilities by providing financial support to programs and services that enable access, inclusion and opportunity to promote increased activity and involvement.

Fundraising Event # 1: Friday, April 4 Odd Sock Day

Odd Sock Day in Recognition of Word Down Syndrome Day.

On World Down Syndrome Day (which was March 21st), people often wear mismatched or brightly colored socks to raise awareness and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals with Down syndrome, as the extra chromosome in Down syndrome is symbolized by the "socks" or chromosomes on a karyotype.

Students are asked to bring a $1.00 donation in order to participate.

Fundraising Events 2 & 3: Hat/Jersey Day & Sour Key Sale

Thursday, April 10

Students wear their favourite hat or jersey ($1.00 participation donation).

April 14 – 18

Sour Key Sale – Details to be confirmed. Students will be able to buy a sour key for $1.00 (maximum of 2 keys).

Badminton

Badminton try outs (for registered students) will be held after school in a double elimination format. Because the length of the tournament is dependent upon the number of students trying out, it is difficult to give an exact time as to when students will finish. Your child will finish as early as 3:00 or as late as 4:30. Students will have access to a phone to call for a drive home when they are finished.

Girls Doubles: Monday, March 31

Boys Doubles: Tuesday, April 1
