Hello from Easter Seals PEI!
I'm writing to tell you about a national partnership between CIBC and Easter Seals Canada which is providing grants to be administered through each Easter Seals provincial organization.
The AccessAbility Program aims to provide assistance to individuals living with disabilities who require access to personal new or refurbished essential accessibility/adaptive equipment and devices in order to enhance their independence, quality of life and well-being, ability to participate without barriers in all aspects of life (including employment, learning, recreation, etc.) and to help set them up for success.
CIBC’s contribution to the AccessAbility Program is:
· to support children under the age of 14 years old.
· open to children located in any province/territory in Canada
· to support children/families that demonstrate the greatest need, to achieve the greatest impact
The types/categories of accessibility/adaptive devices that are eligible for grant funding under the CIBC envelope includes:
- Mobility Equipment: such as manual or powered/motorized wheelchairs, beach/all-terrain wheelchairs, specialized strollers/tricycles, braces, orthotics, adaptive sports equipment, etc.
- Bath and Toileting Equipment: such as special commode chairs, bath supports/hand-rails, bath chairs/seats, transfer aids/lifts, etc.
- Communication & Learning Aids: such as speech pads/grids and pens, tablets, headphones, eye-gaze tracking equipment, hearing aids, headsets, etc.
- Home Modifications: ramps, porch lifts, stairlifts, ceiling track systems, etc.
Grants of a maximum value of $2500 each will be awarded through Easter Seals Canada. Parents/caregivers receiving a grant on behalf of a child will be asked (on a voluntary basis) to provide a photo and testimonial/impact story. This is not a mandatory requirement, however, these photos and testimonials/impact stories help Easter Seals convey the impact of the funding to our donors so that Easter Seals may secure additional funding/donations in the future to assist other families.
A copy of the application form Easter Seals will complete and submit to Easter Seals Canada on behalf of each potential grant recipient is attached so you can see the information we will require.
Application information (and supporting documentation) on behalf of potential grant recipients may be submitted to Easter Seals PEI anytime prior to Friday, August 26th in order to be received by Easter Seals Canada by Wednesday, August 31st.

Illness of one family member significantly affects the entire family, especially the children. We’re helping children learn how to deal with, and overcome adversity, conflicting emotions and anxiety, while nurturing resiliency and maturity. With their unique experience, outlook on life, and with the help of our camp programs, these children can grow into the leaders of tomorrow. Many are well on their way. Kids are observers. Parents may not realize exactly the effect these situations are having on them. The children we serve are vulnerable and those with significant feelings of isolation, anxiety, and stress. We help to focus these difficult experiences in a positive light
Affectionately known as Camp Abby, is located in Augustine Cove and was established in 1946. Over 32,000 children/youth have been welcomed in that time.
We boast 12 cabins and can accommodate up to 60 campers per week this summer. We offer many programs that help children explore their world around them. We are proud of our “unplugged” program where children turn off the electronics and tune into the natural world. We have lifeguard supervised beach activities on our private south shore beach.
There are many outdoor activities on our spacious property that include camper favorites like archery and gaga ball. There is an organized art & crafts program that includes drama and singing. We also have the standard camp favourites of campfires, storytelling, and good wholesome food!
